The
Church Development Foundation (TCDF), a non-profit
organization, has successfully helped over 100 churches
raise funds for capital campaigns. TCDF provides
services to churches in the planning and management of their
capital campaigns. TCDF recognizes that each church
has its own culture and tailors its capital campaign process
for each church.
-
planning:
With the minister and church leaders, a vision, case
statement and timeline are established for the campaign
-
management:
TCDF team members work closely with the minister, staff
and volunteer leaders through regular management
meetings
-
feasibility
study: TCDF first conducts a thorough
feasibility study to determine the congregation's
readiness for a campaign and establish a monetary goal.
-
volunteers:
Members of the congregation are
recruited to serve on the five campaign committees--with
specific, short-term duties
-
communications:
Newsletters, brochures,
social events and messages from the pulpit are scheduled
to inform all church attendees about the campaign
-
solicitation:
Asking for a
commitment is done only after all of the above
activities are completed, and then only in a gentle
manner.
-
follow
up: TCDF works with you after
Commitment Sunday to ensure that commitments are
maximized and a follow-up system is in place.
-
planned
giving: If you choose, TCDF can help
you with Planned Giving to encourage people to remember
the church in their wills or through other planned
gifts.

Done correctly, a
capital campaign can do more than raise money to build
or renovate your church.
It
can help you grow your congregation and increase your
weekly offering.
In
the process you may find, as other ministers have
discovered, that your attendance increases.
Members
have a greater sense of community and are more involved
in your church.
